Our Story

Menya was founded by young Burundians, both locally and abroad, who experienced firsthand the obstacles of accessing quality education and meaningful opportunities. Faced with limited information, a lack of support, and restricted networks, they joined forces to create a solution driven by and designed for youth.

From the start, Menya has been youth-led, rooted in the principle that those who best understand the struggles are also best equipped to overcome them. Drawing on experiences and skills gained through their own educational journeys, our founders united to empower others in ways they never were. Having benefited from global institutions and programs, they returned to build a platform that advances academic achievement while also fostering personal growth.

Today, Menya stands as a dynamic catalyst for young people in Burundi, offering skills training, mentorship, academic resources, and leadership development to help them thrive. We address the problems we once faced, support those we understand most, and share the knowledge we have gained to forge a stronger, more connected generation of leaders. Above all, Menya is a movement, powered by the conviction that when youth uplift each other, lasting change becomes possible.
